What to Wear - PART ONE

Oh my gosh, what are we going to wear!?

Roadblock number one when planning your portrait session. Right?

Seems easy enough, but I’ll stop you right there. Choosing a wardrobe in a palette that works with the season, your personal style - your home (for your wall gallery) and every individual character in your family … well that’s a bit of a challenge. Well, worry not - I'm here to help! Whether we go through your closet or go to the mall - my job is to making you look your best!

Where to begin? For starters,  I know your whole family doesn’t work at a Big Box store, so you can throw out the, “We will all wear royal blue golf shirts and khakis,” idea. Valid attempt,  but we can do better. Now, I’m not trying to make things harder than they need to be but - with a few simple guidelines - we can create something gorgeous for future generations to admire while simultaneously keeping you out of the next edition of Awkward Family Photos.

Where do I sign up? Right here. All portrait sessions start with a consultation. The goal is to plan the session; the style, the tone and the background or location based on what you want in your curated collection. Kind of working our way backwards from finish to start.

Getting started! After visiting the SHOP  page and looking at samples, let say that you are most interested in a gallery with 3-5 images for a wall art display in your living room.

Let’s go visit you living room...

Exhibit ‘A”  Your living room is modern and semi formal. Meaning you wouldn't kick me out for not wearing a ball gown but the kids' soccer team can definitely go hang out in the basement. The room is decorated in white and soft grays. The furniture is fresh and modern with a slightly organic feel. There are a couple splashes of gold and green here and there. Perfect.

Everything about the room description is exactly what you should wear. Where to you go from here?

Here’s a mini assignment. Take yourself on a walking tour of your home. Look at the color pallet, the decor and the walls. Where do you see your family gallery? Look at the space and note the style and tone. Take a picture. Save it. Revisit it say, a day later. Make a list describing the what you see, tone style and color.

Great! You’ve got something to work with here.

Coming next! Let’s head to your closet!
